Uppercase when used with the full name of a scholarship only: The Solon E. Summerfield Scholarship has a lengthy history. On second reference or if the entire proper name of the scholarship is not used, do not capitalize: The Summerfield scholarship.
On second reference, speech-language-hearing department. For faculty, omit all but speech-language-hearing: Mabel L. Rice, professor of speech-language-hearing.
Spell out the names of the 50 U.S. states when they stand alone in text: central Kansas. Use AP abbreviations when used with the name of a city: Fayetteville, Ark. Use postal abbreviations when used as part of an address: TheUniversity of Kansas, Lawrence, KS 66045. See state names and datelines in the Associated Press Stylebook.
In general, the state name does not appear after Kansas towns in text unless there is a possibility of confusion with another city of the same name. Kansas City and Independence are among Kansas towns that should carry state abbreviations. Pittsburg need not be identified as being a Kansas city, because the Pennsylvania city is spelled Pittsburgh.
Always capitalize. It is not an office, division or department. If necessary, use Office of the Vice Provost for Student Success. Student Success comprises services and programs that promote student retention, academic success and graduation. Units overseen by Student Success include Academic Technology Services, Counseling and Psychological Services, Department of Student Housing, Freshman-Sophomore Advising Center, Hilltop Child Development Center, KU Memorial Unions, Legal Services for Students, Office of Admissions and Scholarships, Office of Multicultural Affairs, New Student Orientation, Recreation Services, Student Health Services, Student Involvement and Leadership Center and University Career Center.

In bodies of text, do not use symbols such as &, #, @ or %. Spell out the words instead.
